Jisc are an organisation tasked with ensuring that the UK becomes the most digitally advanced education and research nation in the world.
We were first engaged by Jisc in May 2014, to design and develop research reports and infographics. Now, we provide full-service support across the complete range of media, assisting Jisc with all elements of creative and brand strategy, development and daily production.
HIGH-LEVEL DESIGN AND BRAND GUARDIANSHIP
We like to form long-term partnerships with our clients and get to know the different teams and audiences in order to offer the best service we can. With Jisc – as with many of our clients – we work as an extension to the marketing teams, acting as brand guardians and strategists helping to develop the brand over time.
Following a recent review and change to become a membership organisation, our team were challenged with elevating the brand to engage with their customer base and to deliver a stronger, clearer message inline with the new business model. This involves development of a new visual identity which supports the tone of voice; and the creation of core guidelines for collateral. We lead a number of workshops with other creative and video agencies, alongside copywriters and key stakeholders from the organisation to develop and drive the new brand forwards.
DAILY DESIGN SUPPORT
One of our key strengths is in the breadth and experience of our design team which allows us to bring a suite of core design skills to the brands we work with. Jisc are able to call on the design team for any type of project. On a daily basis, we work together to build documents, presentations, reports and printed literature; create infographics and illustrations, design marketing campaigns, support events and produce digital media across a range of channels.
We take a digital first approach to all of the materials produced for Jisc. This means that our documents and assets must work across a range of media and meet the requirements for printed, digital and accessible collateral. Our aim is to create master templates which can serve different media channels from a single source.
EVENT SUPPORT
The studio provide speaker and event support to Jisc for their general events and roadshows; as well as their annual Digifest and Networkshop events. These events are aimed towards the full spectrum of HE and FE audiences, promoting Jisc and partner services as well as providing a platform for experts in different fields of education and digital technology.
ACCESSIBILITY AUDIT AND BRAND GUIDELINES
Accessibility is a key area in public sector design and the recent introduction of the 2018 Accessibility Regulations has prompted a more in-depth review with our clients. The studio have been engaged by Jisc to review and recommend changes required in the creation of collateral which will be distributed electronically – and to also develop guidelines for the general construction of documents. Our team have undertaken extensive research and development with the client to ensure that not only Jisc’s website, but all print and digital content meets these new requirements.
CLEAR PROJECT MANAGEMENT
The design and development of both core brand and daily collateral is fast-paced and reactive to this rapidly changing sector within education. With each project, we establish clear, versatile workflows that are visible to both client and designer at each stage of the process. Delivering our work in a timely and efficient manner is a key part of the process for our team and helps to build trust with the marketing teams and other stakeholders within the organisation.
